Pilots, Cabin Crew, and British Couple Among Those Killed in Tragic Air India Crash – Here’s What We Know

The devastating crash of Air India Flight 171 on June 12, 2025, claimed the lives of 242 people, including passengers and crew, moments after takeoff from Ahmedabad en route to London. Only one man, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, survived. The final transmission from the captain, “Mayday… no thrust, losing power,” offered a chilling glimpse into the plane’s final seconds before it crashed into buildings in a fiery explosion.

Among the victims were First Officer Clive Kunder, a rising pilot talent; several devoted cabin crew; and British wellness influencers Jamie and Fiongal Greenlaw-Meek. Families and communities across continents are mourning the enormous loss, with tributes pouring in from public figures, loved ones, and fellow airline staff.

Vishwash, seated near the emergency exit in seat 11A, survived against all odds, emerging from the wreckage disoriented and searching for his brother Ajay, who remains missing. The Ramesh family is now grappling with both the miracle of survival and the anguish of loss, as Vishwash recovers physically and emotionally in a hospital.

As investigations into the cause continue, the tragedy has sparked global grief. Tributes like white roses outside India House in London serve as quiet symbols of sorrow. While technical answers may eventually come, it is the human stories—of final calls, last laughs, and unfathomable loss—that will remain etched in memory.
