Obama Family’s Sad Announcement

Marian Robinson, the beloved mother of former First Lady Michelle Obama, passed away peacefully at age 86, the family announced Friday.

Michelle Obama called her mother “my rock” in a heartfelt tribute, while Barack Obama described her as “one-of-a-kind,” crediting her with shaping their family’s values.

Born in 1937, Marian married Fraser Robinson III and raised Michelle and her brother Craig in Chicago. She instilled strength and a deep belief in education that helped guide her children’s futures.

Marian moved into the White House during Barack Obama’s presidency to help care for her granddaughters, Malia and Sasha, offering stability and love during their historic time in the spotlight.

Though she stayed out of the public eye, her quiet presence was deeply influential—what the family called their “secret weapon.”
