Georgina Rodríguez Turns Heads in Venice Wearing a Dazzling Diamond Engagement Ring from Cristiano Ronaldo

The fiancée of one of the world’s most famous soccer players lit up the red carpet in Italy, but it wasn’t her dress that had jaws dropping. It was that ring. And the internet had a lot to say about it.

Georgina Rodríguez made a grand entrance on August 31, 2025, for the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, and she brought her signature opulence with her.

But behind the flashes of the cameras and her dazzling smile was a storm brewing online over her ultra-luxurious style as netizens questioned her taste.

A Show-Stopper Velvet Dress

The 31-year-old Argentine-Spanish model commanded attention in a sultry black velvet macramé lace slip dress, delicately hanging from spaghetti straps and layered with intricate floral patterns over a nude base. She paired it with a diamond-encrusted choker and matching earrings. But the look didn’t stop there.

Her hands were glittering with flawless acrylic nails, painted a soft pink with crisp French tips, and multiple dazzling rings, including the massive engagement ring given to her by Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Netizens Unleash Their Opinions

As images of Rodríguez’s dazzling appearance spread online, so did the fierce commentary. One person remarked, “She is too much with the nails and the diamonds. For someone who hasn’t worked for those diamonds I think it comes off insanely tacky.”

Another added, “How does she look after her kids with nails like that. I know she has Nannie’s but still [sic]. 😳”

Others weighed in on her evolving appearance and demeanor, with one writing, “She looks so different now,” and another suggesting“She seems unhappy inside even with so much wealth.”

One frustrated commenter didn’t hold back, writing, “I don’t get it…. Why does she look so tacky ALL the time …. 😮😮😮.”

Yet not everyone was critical. A fan gushed“Love ❤️🙏she’s natural 🌊💎.” Another exclaimed“Woooooowwwww🔥,” and a third chimed in with adoration, “Absolutely stunning and the ring is beautiful, shes one lucky lady ❤️ [sic].”

The Ring That Lit up a Private Jet

The red carpet wasn’t her only appearance in Venice that weekend. Earlier that same day, she was photographed arriving at the Hotel Excelsior in another all-black look, this time opting for a more conservative turtleneck shirt adorned with a silver diamond flower at the neck.

Her knee-length skirt featured a lace pattern, echoing the gothic undertones of her later ensemble. She posted several shots of this moment on her social media and added the caption, “Grateful to be here.”

A day earlier, she showed off her ring while hugging her fiancé on a private plane. In a video from that carousel post, the sun’s reflection off the huge diamond illuminated the walls of the aircraft.

This piece of jewelry has been on the radar since the couple revealed their engagement in early August. As previously reported, the ring, estimated to be worth up to $5 million, quickly drew attention online for its size. While some praised the lavish display, others were critical.

“That rock is so huge it looks so tacky ew. I get that it costs a fortune, but going overboard just cheapens things sometimes,” one comment read. Another wrote, “It’s monstrous. It’s gargantuan. You could take it camping.”

Many questioned whether the piece was practical. “That ring is OUTRAGEOUS and would be so annoying to wear, lol,” someone posted. “I think it’s completely unwearable,” another said. Others compared it to “cheap costume jewelry” or called it “over the top.” Another person wrote“Looks painful!!”

Some speculated about the timing of the engagement. “We love big diamonds but that is the ugliest ring I’ve ever seen,” one person wrote.

Another added“He wouldn’t marry her all this time. Now he offers up a me massive diamond too big to be a pretty ring. Something is up here [sic].” One commenter summed up“This is the worst ring I have ever seen.”

Ronaldo and Rodríguez met in 2016 at a Gucci store in Madrid, where she worked. At the time, Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid. They began dating the following year and made their relationship Instagram official in May 2017.

Their family grew quickly. In June 2017, they welcomed twins, Eva and Mateo, via surrogate. The couple announced they were expecting another child the next month, and Rodríguez gave birth to their daughter, Alana, that November.

In October 2021, they revealed they were expecting another set of twins. Rodríguez delivered Bella, a healthy baby girl, in April 2022. Sadly, her twin brother, Angel, died during birth.

Rodríguez has spoken openly about their relationship in her Netflix series “I Am Georgina,” describing Ronaldo as a very normal guy despite his fame.

The couple has not revealed the jeweler behind the engagement ring, but experts estimate its value between $2 million and $5 million. Ajay Anand, CEO of Rare Carat, suggested the center stone could be a flawless D-color diamond weighing over 30 carats, which could place its value at the top end of that range.

Laura Taylor, an engagement ring specialist at Lorel Diamonds, estimated the stone’s weight to be between 15 and 20 carats and said its oval cut maximizes sparkle, giving it a bright and lively appearance from every angle.

While Rodríguez’s ring has created a buzz, it is not the first to draw public attention for its size and value. Here are some of the most expensive engagement rings celebrities were given before:
