Billy Joel’s Health Battle Forces Cancellation Of 17-Show Tour Across U.S. and U.K.

Billy Joel Cancels All 2025–2026 Shows After NPH Diagnosis

Legendary musician Billy Joel, 76, has canceled all scheduled performances for 2025 and 2026 following a diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), a rare brain condition that affects mobility, memory, and cognitive function in older adults.

The “Piano Man” singer is currently undergoing physical therapy, with his team sharing the news via Instagram on May 23. “Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is focused on recovery,” the statement read. Joel added, “I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience and thank you for understanding.”

NPH, which impacts around 0.2% of people aged 70–80, can cause balance issues, slowed thinking, and behavioral changes. It’s typically treated with surgery, as medication is rarely effective.

Fans and fellow musicians have expressed support and well-wishes for Joel’s recovery.
